Hand Scraped Solid Wood Flooring

Hand scraped solid wood flooring is a normal piece of solid wood flooring which has then had the surface intentionally scraped by hand to give more texture and a rustic effect.  The flooring planks themselves have been made using a solid piece of hardwood, which has been machined into a floor board, and then they have undergone the hand scraping procedure to create a unique appearance with added definition and character.  The solid wood flooring is then finished with protective layers of a satin matt lacquer which helps to highlight these distinctive scape marks.

Hand scraped solid wood flooring needs to be fixed into position during installation by either secret nailing, secret screwing or using a flexible flooring adhesive to create a full surface bond with the subfloor.  This is because the planks of solid wood flooring are not completely stable and could become damaged if they start to move around.  For more information, have a look at our Installation and Fitting Guide.
