Colour

When choosing a solid wood floor, one of the most important choices is the species of wood which usually determines the colour of the floor.  To make it easier for you, we have put our solid wood floors into three categories, Dark, Medium and Light.

This should help you to find the perfect floor to complement your room or space. There is no easy way to decide upon the colour of flooring, so it is mainly down to your personal choice and what is right for you and your home.  The main things to think about are: the size of the room, the decor of the room and the amount of natural light that it gets.  This should help you to determine whether light, medium or dark would work best.

Which flooring colour should I choose?

There is no easy way to decide upon the colour of flooring, so it is mainly down to your personal choice and what is right for you and your home.   One important factor to consider is the size of your room.  A light coloured floor can sometimes help to make a smaller space look larger, and similarly a darker floor can make a space feel smaller than it is.  Another important factor is the décor of the room, the colour of the walls and the colour of the furniture.  Your flooring will want to complement your furnishings so you will need to think about whether you would like your floor to match and blend in, or to be a complete contrast to add character and flair.  The last thing to think about is the amount of natural light in the room.  Darker floors will obviously make a room look and feel darker, so they are best suited to rooms which are naturally lighter and brighter.  Even with taking all of these factors into consideration, it is still ultimately down to your personal choice and what you think will suit the room.

Do you sell matching flooring accessories?

Yes, we do sell matching solid wood flooring accessories, in both light and dark species of hardwood so you are sure to find something that will match your choice of flooring.  Alternatively, if you are looking for more of a contrast, then we also have a range of MDF flooring profiles in multiple colours or aluminium profiles, which again are available in different shades.

Are there any alternatives available?

All of our solid hardwood flooring falls into either dark, medium of light flooring, but if you are looking for a different type of flooring altogether than you might want to view our range of engineered hardwood flooring or our range of laminate flooring.

The links below give a few different options of some of our colours of engineered wood flooring:
