Wood Flooring Type – Luxury Vinyl
LVT features a printed decor sandwiched between layers of vinyl, with the top layer having a durable and scratch-resistant textured surface. The thicker bottom layer carries the click joint. This multi-layer vinyl composition makes the floor not only tough but also completely resistant to attack from water.
Finish – High-performance top layer
Protected with Scratch and Stain Guard technology. This protects from stains, dirt and scratches, making maintenance easy. The extra matt surface finish gives a totally natural look.
Fit – Click
A click-fitting system means that the boards can simply be clicked together to provide a straightforward installation. The planks of flooring have interlocking joints which have been machined onto the edge. These joints click and lock together to provide a tight and secure fit without the need for nails or glue. The improved drop-down technology provides extra strength due to vertical and horizontal locking.
Installation method – Float over an underlay (Click)
Floating a floor over an underlay means the planks of flooring are attached together by the click fitting system, but they are not fixed directly down to the subfloor; instead they float over a layer of underlay. This method of installation is compatible with underfloor heating.
Acclimatisation
Minimum of 2 days to acclimatise to its surroundings before it can be installed. It should be left in the room where it is going to be installed, which should be dry (no new drying plaster or concrete) and heated to between 18 to 30°.
Maintenance & Aftercare
Vinyl floors are easy to look after and maintain. Simply sweep on a daily basis with a soft bristle brush to remove any dirt or dust, and then clean on a weekly basis (more often if needed). To prevent any unwanted dents or damage to your hardwood, remember to remove outdoor footwear, use felt protector pads on the bottom of furniture and never drag heavy or sharp object across the floor. This will ensure that your floor keeps looking at its best for as long as possible.
*Floor heating systems (water / electricity) which are built-in the screed can be used with Elka LVT if a constant room & floor temperature of 18°C ( 64°F) can be guaranteed during acclimatization, installation and 48h after installation. For health and safety reasons and to avoid problems with the Elka LVT floor, a sub-floor surface temperature of maximum 27°C (80°F) is allowed. Separate rooms with and without floor heating, or with different temperature controllers, or e.g. corridor vs. kitchen must be installed with a transition profile and an expansion gap of minimum 5mm. An Elka LVT floor cannot be installed on top of so called loose laid heating systems like electrical foils, etc. For a good preparation, read also the separate installation instructions for floor heating on www.elkaflooring.co.uk
