Product Advantages
Bona White is a single component waterborne polyurethane/acrylate primer for giving wooden floors a white-washed look
The intensity can be controlled by applying it in one or multiple layers. Applied in a single layer it typically preserves the impression of raw, untreated wood, For a truly white impression, apply two or more layers
For best look finish with Bona Natural, Matt or Extra Matt lacquer.
Impedes wood yellowing
Technical Spec
Coverage rate: 12m²/litre per coat
Drying time, until: - 2-3 hours at 20°C/60% R.H.
Preparation
Ensure the floor is acclimatized to its end-use environment. The surface which is to be coated must be sanded back to bare wood, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. It is recommended to finalize the sanding with a Bona Quattro or Multi Disc.
Allow the primer to reach room temperature, insert the filter and shake the container thoroughly before use.
Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C and 30-60% relative air humidity.
High temperatures and low humidity shorten, and low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. The minimum temperature for use is 13°C.
Application
1. Shake the container thoroughly before use and insert the supplied filter. Pour finish into a container (box + bag). It is recommended to pour through an external strainer so as to minimize the potential for lumps.
2. Apply Bona White using a Bona Roller (microfiber/fleece) at approx. 12 m²/lit (83 g/m²), avoiding the accumulation of product.
3. When dry (approx. 2-3 hours), abrade to reduce grain raise using the Bona Scrad system or a sanding screen grit 150 or finer.
4. Remove all dust
5. If a more intense white look is desired then apply an additional layer of Bona White before sealing the surface with one of Bona’s protective lacquers.
Cleaning
Cleaning: Wipe tools free from excess lacquer before cleaning with water. Dried material can be removed with acetone
Maintenance / Aftercare
Bona White should never be used as the final treatment for timber floors
Storage / Shelf life
Shelf life: 1 year from date of production in unopened original container
The temperature must not fall below +5°C or exceed +25°C during storage
