How much will I need?
Product Advantages
- Bona Prime Amberseal is a tinted single-component waterborne polyurethane primer
- Compatible with all Bona’s waterborne topcoats
- Rich, amber wood colour
- NMP and NEP free
- VOC 2010 compliant
Technical Spec
Coverage rate: 8-10 m² /litre (100-120g/m² ) per coat
Drying time, until: - 1-2 hours at 20°C/60% R.H.
Preparation
Ensure the floor is acclimatized to its end-use environment. The surface which is to be coated must be sanded back to bare wood, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. A sanding disc or screen grit 120 should be used for the final sanding of the wood.
Allow the primer to reach room temperature, insert filter and shake the container thoroughly before use.
Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C and 40-60% relative air humidity.
High temperatures and low humidity shorten, and low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. The minimum temperature for use is 13°C.
Application
1. Using a Bona Roller, apply the primer evenly avoiding the accumulation of product. Care should be taken to achieve a uniform level of timber saturation to avoid colour variation. Always maintain a ‘wet edge’ to avoid overlaps.
2. When dry, abrade to reduce grain raise using the Bona Scrad system or a sanding screen grit 150 or finer.
3. Remove all dust and apply an additional layer of Bona Amberseal and let dry.
4. Apply 1-2 layers of a waterborne topcoat from Bona depending on wear resistance requirements.
Cleaning
Cleaning: Wipe tools free from excess lacquer before cleaning with water. Dried material can be removed with acetone
Maintenance / Aftercare
Bona Amberseal should never be used as the final treatment for timber floors
Storage / Shelf life
Shelf life: 1 year from date of production in unopened original container
The temperature must not fall below +5°C or exceed +25°C during storage
