Bona Polish Matt
Bona polish Matt is specifically designed for wooden floors and is reinforced with polyurethane for increased durability and a flawless matt finish.
Bona Polish Gloss
It's possible to use Bona Polish Gloss on a variety of floors including varnished floors, laminate, linoleum, PVC and ceramic tiles. The polish contains polyurethane for increased durability and dries to a flawless end-result that is slip resistance and compliant to DIN 18032:2.
Please Note: Bona Polish is not suitable for use on wooden floors that have been waxed or oiled.
Preparation
Ensure floors to be treated are clean, dry and free of any loose surface dirt, grit or debris. It is recommended that floors are dry swept with a soft broom, microfibre mop or vacuumed before applying the floor polish. To remove stubborn scuffs, stains or marks, use a dedicated, pH balanced, wood floor cleaner, such as the Bona Wood Floor Cleaner Spray or Bona Cleaner Concentrate.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times. Shake container thoroughly before use.
- Apply Bona Polish in a 3-4 cm wide wavy line on a 3m2 section of the floor and spread the product directly using a Bona Mop with a Bona Microfiber Applicator Pad attached
- For best results, apply the polish in a thin consistent coat
- Without adding more product, smooth out the section by pulling the applicator along the grain of the wood
- Continue with the next section and then allow the ready treated floor a minimum of 1 hour drying time before resuming light foot traffic on the floor
- If required, it is possible to apply a second layer of polish after 2 hours
- A floor can be made more glossy by applying 2 coats of the gloss polish or alternatively made duller by applying 2 coats of Bona Polish Matt
Some tips to remember
- When smoothing out the polish, keep the applicator pad flat to the surface, going wall-to-wall
- Avoid lifting the applicator along the way as this produces bubbles
- Do not work into areas starting to dry as this may produce streaking
- If applying multiple layers of polish, do not stress the drying time between coats, as there is a risk of dissolving previous layers
- To achieve a uniform aspect it is advised to always treat the entire surface
- Avoid heavy traffic and the replacement of furniture and rugs for the first 24 hours
Aftercare
Regular Cleaning
Damp cleaning of floors may be resumed after three days. For regular cleaning, use Bona Wood Floor Cleaner Spray or Bona Cleaner Concentrate.
Please Note: Avoid using strong alkaline cleaning agents or household detergents / cleaners as these can degrade or strip the protective polish coating over time.
Maintenance
If the finished surface becomes worn or tired-looking over time, simply re-apply a fresh coat of Bona Polish, following the Application instructions above. If you need to remove the polish for any reason, use Bona Remover.
