When deciding on a new wooden floor, the options can seem endless! If you are looking for something a little different than the usual plank style, then you will probably be deciding between Chevron or Parquet. They are both different styles of flooring, but can look quite similar, so here is some more information about them both to help you to decide.
Chevron Flooring
Chevron flooring creates a specific ‘V’ shaped pattern which repeats itself across your whole floor. The actual flooring is a small block which has a unique end profile. Each end has been cut as a 45 degree angle to allow it to fit together to create the distinctive chevron pattern.
Parquet Flooring
Parquet flooring can create a number of different geometric patterns, depending on your preference. Again, the actual flooring is a small block of wood, which fits together to create beautiful designs. The most common pattern created with parquet block flooring is ‘herringbone’, which is a recurring zigzag pattern across your room. Other patterns that you can create as basket weave and brickbond.
Which should I choose?
This will really depend on your personal preferences. Both chevron and parquet flooring can be found in different species, with colour stains and surface finishes. Your choice between the two is less about the colour, and more about the pattern that you want to create.
