A distressed wooden floor is one that has added texture to the surface.  This means that the planks or blocks of wood have been intentionally aged, which adds imperfections to enhance the charm and appeal of the floor.  The distressed floors have already had a surface finish added so provide protection from daily wear and tear.

What are the different options for distressed wooden floors?

Firstly, you have the choice between either: plank style flooring or parquet block. Plank style distressed wooden floors are longer planks of flooring that you would associate with a traditional wooden floor.  Parquet Block distressed wooden flooring comprises of smaller blocks of flooring that can be installed to create different geometric patterns.  Learn more about parquet blocks here.

Distressed wooden floors are looked after the same as any other hardwood.  Firstly, they are easy to keep clean by a daily sweep, which will keep the dust and dirt away.  Finally, you can clean the floor with a mop and wooden floor cleaner on a weekly basis or more often if needed.

Here are some examples of distressed wooden floors:

Engineered Raw Saw Oak Flooring

This is a very rustic looking floor that would suit a traditional style cottage. You will find a traditional golden Oak colour, along with saw marks across the planks to give you an authentic and aged looking floor.

Urban Brown Distressed and Brushed Oak Parquet Block

The oak has been stained to provide you with a darker brown that natural Oak.  You will see that the surface has been distressed and brushed to give a textured feel rather than a smooth exterior.
