SPC or Stone Polymer Composite flooring is a particular type of rigid vinyl.  You can find different natural effects including stone, ceramic tiles and wood.  The flooring is made from multiple layers, with a base layer of crushed and molded stone, to give stability and rigidness. The detailed pattern layer contains a high and authentic quality image of your chosen type (stone, tile or wood). This is then covered with a high-performance top layer with stain and scratch protection.

Why should I choose SPC?

There are many reasons to choose SPC flooring.  You will be getting a well crafted and durable floor, that still looks authentic and can help to add character and charm to your home.  Here are the top ten reasons to choose SPC flooring:

1. SPC looks and feels authentic. You will be getting a beautiful natural looking floor, without the drawbacks of the real thing.

2. You will have a floor that is warm underfoot. The technology used means that you get a warmer floor than traditional tiles, stone, or wood.

3. The flooring is rigid and extremely versatile. It can help to reduce slight undulations in your existing subfloor. E.g. you can install directly over an old, tiled or vinyl floor.

4. Some types of SPC come with a built-in underlay which makes it easier to install.

5. SPC is a stable flooring choice. You can use it in any areas with fluctuating temperatures, e.g. conservatories, with underfloor heating or areas with large quantities of glazing.

6. The majority of SPC floors are completely waterproof. If you are thinking of using it in a bathroom or any other area with excess water, check the particular type of SPC before buying.

7. You can install SPC flooring in any room in your home.

8. SPC is easy to look after – all you have to do is sweep and clean the surface on a regular basis.

9. It is a cost-effective flooring choice, making it a great alternative to real wooden or stone floors.

10. Most types of SPC come with at least a 15-year warranty.

What does it look like?

Usually, SPC will look like either stone flooring, ceramic tiles or a wooden floor.  There are hundreds of different intricate patterns and styles to choose from, depending on your personal preferences and interior design.
