You may have recently heard of, or come across, SPC flooring.  It stands for Stone Polymer Composite and is a type of rigid vinyl flooring. It is available in stone, tile or wood effect and has an authentic and realistic appearance. The flooring itself is made from multiple layers including a high-performance top layer that helps to prevent stains and scratches. The base layers of SPC is made from crushed and molded stone to give the planks or tiles a rigid feel and added strength and durability.

What does SPC flooring look like?

There are hundreds of different types, styles and colours of SPC flooring, but generally it will either look like wooden flooring or tiles.  Here are some of our favourites:

Why should I choose SPC flooring?

• SPC looks and feels like a wooden or tiled floor.

• You will notice that the floor is warm underfoot.

• It is rigid and versatile so can take out slight undulations in your existing subfloor, for example, you can install directly over an old, tiled floor.

• Some come with a built-in underlay for ease of installation.

• You can use SPC in areas with changing temperatures, e.g. conservatories, underfloor heating or areas with large amounts of glazing.

• Most types of SPC flooring are completely waterproof.

• You can install SPC in any room in your home.

• It is really easy to look after – simply sweep and clean on a regular basis.

• It’s a cost-effective alternative to a real wooden floor.
