We have put together a quick guide to choosing and buying wooden flooring. With any new purchase for your home, there are so many decisions to make. Buying a new wooden floor is a big purchase. Your new floor should last for decades, so you will want to make sure that you make the right choice for your home.
Here are some of the main things to consider:
Where is the new floor going?
A wooden floor can be extremely versatile (especially engineered hardwood) and can go in almost any room in your home. It is a great choice for hallways, living spaces and bedrooms.
For areas with underflooring heating you should use engineered wooden flooring as it has been designed to deal with the fluctuations in temperature, and transferring the correct heat through to the surface.
If you are looking for a new floor for a bathroom, wet room or utility room, we would not recommend using hardwood as it can become damaged with excess water and humidity.
What budget do you have?
The price for wooden flooring does vary quite significantly depending on the construction of the plank, the size, the fitting system and the finish that has been applied to the surface. We are confident that you will find something in your price range, but feel free to contact us if you would like any support or advice.
Style and colour?
Colour and style is often a personal choice, but you will want to think about your existing interior décor and the furnishings. Here are some of the main style and colour choices:
• Parquet block
• Plank style
• Chevron
• Wide or narrow sized planks
• Different species of wood (Oak, Walnut, etc)
• Different surface finishes (smoked, lacquered, oiled, etc)
