The cost of installing hardwood flooring can vary significantly depending on a number of factors: the size of the area; the type of hardwood flooring chosen; whether any accessories are needed (e.g. door strips, radiator pipes, skirting board, etc); the geographical location. Another consideration when thinking about cost is whether or not you choose to install the floor yourself.  Some floors are more suitable for DIY installation.  Engineered wood flooring are available in a click system so can be self-assembled.  Step by step guidelines and instructions of how to lay the floor should be included in the packs of flooring.

If you choose not to install the wood flooring yourself, or you choose a type of flooring that would benefit from professional installation, the following is a rough approximation of what you can expect to pay:

These are only rough guidelines based on the installation of hardwood floor in a simple area (no material/product costs are included) and may vary considerably for some geographical areas (e.g. central London). Additional costs may also be added on for any of the following:

• Skirting boards or beading

• Radiator pipes

• Doorways

• Split level rooms

• Stairs or steps

• Removal of old floor/carpets
