The best oil for my Oak front door

A new Oak front door can look beautiful and add character to any style of property.  To maintain the colour and beauty of your front door, you will need to regularly apply coats of oil.  Ultra Violet (UV) rays from the sun will cause any outdoor wood to become faded and turn a grey colour.

To prevent this from happening you will need to use an oil with built in UV protection.  This will instantly revive and refresh your Oak front door.

Which is the best oil for my Oak front door?

We feel that the best products to use are either:

Osmo UV Protection Oil – This is a clear oil that helps to maintain the natural wood colour of your front door.

Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra Oak Tint – This is a colour tinted product which adds a burst of Oak colour back onto your front door. Other tint colours are available

Both not only protect your wood from the sun’s UV rays, but also offer a water and dirt resistant coating.  They both also help to reduce the amount of swelling and shrinking of the wood, by allowing it to breath.

How do I use Osmo UV Protection Oil?

• Make sure the surface of your Oak door is fully prepared. It needs to be clean, dry and smooth. Remove any old paint or lacquer.

• The UV protection oil is ready to use, all you need to do is stir the tin thoroughly.

• Use either a flat brush or Osmo microfibre roller set to apply a thin layer of oil.

• Always work along the wood grain.

• Allow the oil to dry (approximately 12 hours, depending on weather conditions).

• Then apply the second coat of oil.

Always read the manufacturer’s instructions and product information fully before use.
