Wooden floor door bars are a great accessory that help you to close the gaps between doorways when fitting a floor. There are a few different types to choose from depending on the type of floor that you have on the other side of the doorway. Sometimes you will hear a door bar called a ‘threshold’, which is just another name for it. We have a range of door bars including solid Oak door bars, and metal door bars.
Why do I need a wooden floor door bar?
When fitting a wooden floor, you must leave an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room. This is to allow the wood to naturally expand and contract with changes in the relative humidity and temperature of the room. You must also leave an expansion gap in doorways, between different rooms. Obviously, you won’t want to leave these gaps bare and open. This is when you would use a door bar. They are ideal to cover over these gaps.
What are the different types of door bars?
There are a few different door bars to choose from. Here are some of them, and explanations of when you would use them: Flat threshold door bar: You should use this if you have two floors of the same height. For example, wood to wood, or wood to the same height tile or laminate flooring. Wood to carpet door bar: This will give you a perfect fit between a hardwood floor on one side of the door and a carpet on the other side. Ramp door bar: You may sometimes find this called an ‘R section’. You would need to use this when you have two floors that are a different level. For example, a wooden floor and a thin tile or vinyl floor. T door bar: You would use one of these if you are joining two floors that are the same level.
