Walnut flooring is a great choice if you are looking for a dark, elegant and sophisticated wooden floor. Walnut is a hardwood tree that produces a rich, dark brown coloured wood.

Where can I have Walnut flooring

You can have walnut flooring in almost any room in your home.  As it is a darker colour floor, it usually best suits rooms that are bright and airy.  This way you will get a lovely contrast between the richness of the floor and the brightness of the décor.  A larger space can also look stunning with a walnut floor, especially if it has a traditional décor.  If you have a small space, be mindful that a dark walnut floor could make the room look even smaller as it will inevitably darken its surroundings.

It is also worth bearing in mind that walnut is a fairly soft floor.  It is classed as a hardwood floor, but it isn’t as strong as Oak, so you may want to avoid having walnut in any particularly busy areas, as it could scratch and dent more easily.

Some of the areas where you can have walnut flooring are:

• Living spaces

• Dining Rooms

• Bedrooms

• Children’s bedrooms or nurseries

• Hallways – remember to remove shoes before walking on your floor

How to look after Walnut flooring?

As walnut is a slightly softer floor you will want to be very careful when looking after it.  Here are some tips and advice:

• Firstly, always remove your outdoor footwear before walking on your Walnut floor

• Secondly, place doormats at all external doors

• Sweep your floor on a daily basis to remove any dust or dirt

• Clean your Walnut floor with a wooden floor cleaner – this is a great pH neutral floor cleaner

• We would recommend that you apply felt protector pads to the bottom of all your furniture

• Read our Wooden Floor Care and Maintenance Guide.
