The best way to keep on top of cleaning your wooden floor is to implement a simple, effective, and manageable cleaning routine. Cleaning is an essential part of caring for your wooden floor, and it will keep it looking fresh and new for years to come. Your flooring can be a lifelong investment so cleaning it is vital to its longevity. The best way thing to do is create a simple and quick routine that can be built in around your everyday life.

Here are some top tips of how to implement and keep on top of a cleaning routine:

Sweep your floor regularly!

Depending on how busy the area is, this could mean twice a day, once a day or once a week.  If your wooden floor is in a busy (or messy) room, like a dining room or kitchen, there are likely to be lots of crumbs dropped onto the floor.  These may look minimal after one mealtime but can soon become more and more unsightly.  The best plan of action would be sweeping your floor after every mealtime, just like you would wipe down any work surfaces after cooking or clean the dining table after eating.

A hallway is another room that would need to be swept quite regularly, especially in the winter months when dirt, grit and stones can easily be brought into your home.

If your room is less used, like a spare bedroom or rooms that are only used for certain occasions, then you may just want to sweep them only on a weekly basis to prevent a build up of dust.

Mop and clean when needed

Again, we would recommend cleaning your floor on a regular basis, so that it becomes part of a normal routine. Generally, once a week would be sufficient, however you may need to do this more regularly in busier areas.

Regular sweeping will keep your wooden floor free from grit, dust and crumbs, but your floor can still get dirty and will need a more thorough clean. You should use a wooden floor cleaner that is pH neutral.  We would recommend using a Bona Spray Mop.  It is an all-in-one mop with the following benefits:

• Bulit in spray trigger on the mop handle

• Swivel head to fit into the difficult to reach areas

• Removable microfibre cleaning pad (machine washable)

• pH neutral cleaning solution specially designed for wooden floor

• Refillable cleaning solution cartridge

• Cleans effectively but gently
