Why choose laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring has been a popular choice for decades.  It is known for being easy to install and usually offered at a much lower price than real wood flooring.  Years ago, when laminate flooring became popular with DIY enthusiasts, it was of a poor quality.  In recent years, some top brands, like Quick-Step have invested in the design and production and have created some high quality and authentic looking floors. Although laminate flooring may look like a hardwood floor, you must remember than it is not real wood.

Why not have a look at the following article: What is the difference between hardwood flooring and laminate flooring?

What is laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is a synthetic floor covering.  It has been developed and designed to look like wood or stone flooring.  The floor is made from various synthetic layers.  It usually has a core of High Density Fibreboard (HDF) to give stability and structure.  The floor is then finished with a photograph of wood, stone or bamboo.  This photograph is extremely detailed and very high quality.  Finally, it has a protective top layer added, which is usually scratch and water resistant.  Some types of high-quality laminate flooring are even fully waterproof.

You will find laminate flooring considerably easy to install.  It can be floated over an underlay without the need for glue or nails.  The planks of laminate flooring simply click and lock together.   Once you have installed laminate flooring, you will find it very easy to look after.  All you will need to do is regularly sweep away dust and dirt and then clean using a laminate flooring cleaning spray.
