Oak flooring extremely versatile and can be used in almost any room in your home. It is a fairly hardwearing and strong species of wood, so can withstand the footfall from a busy household. It will look stunning in your home and can be found in different styles, colours shades and plank sizes.  When you think of Oak, you may visualise the traditional planks of golden and pale tones.  There are so many other choices of Oak flooring too, including:

• Plank style

• Parquet blocks

• Stained Oak, which can give darker, lighter or grey tones

• Chevron style Oak

• Unfinished Oak – you can add your own colour stain and surface finish

• Distressed Oak

• Solid or engineered planks of flooring

Be aware that engineered Oak flooring is far more versatile than solid Oak. Engineered flooring can be used with underfloor heating and in areas with large amounts of glazing. If you would like to order some free samples of our flooring, this can sometimes make the decision easier.

Rooms where I can use Oak flooring

Here are some rooms where you can use Oak flooring in your home:

• Hallways

• Dining Room

• Living area

• Conservatory (engineered Oak only)

• On a staircase

• Bedroom

• Home office

• Children’s bedroom or nursery

How should I look after it?

Always remove footwear before walking on your Oak floor.  If your floor leads on to any external doors (e.g. front door, patio doors or bi-folds), it would be best to have a doormat for people to wipe their feet.  This will remove dirt and grit and help to prevent any damage to your floor. Sweep and clean on a regular basis. See our Care and Maintenance Guide for further details. We would also recommend using felt protector pads on the bottom of furniture.  This will help to prevent any scratches on your floor. Although Oak flooring is hardwearing, you should remember that it is a natural product and can become damaged if not cared for properly.
