When would I need to use a pipe cover?

Pipe covers are great for covering over expansion gaps.  They fit around pipework that is coming through your wooden floor. They are easy to fit and removeable to allow you to clean underneath.  Here is a bit more information about what a pipe cover is and when you would need to use it.

What is a pipe cover?

A hardwood flooring pipe cover is an accessory that you will need if you have radiators with pipes coming from the ground, or any other pipework for that matter.  It matches the colour of your floor, e.g. Oak, to give continuity in your room.  The pipe cover itself has a very clever design.  It is a small circular piece of solid wood which is just big enough to cover over the expansion gap around radiator and heating pipes. Our pipe covers are made from solid Oak and come in two separate halves. You would simply click and lock them together around the base of the pipe.  You should not fix them to the floor, they can be left loose on top of the floor.  Also, they can easily be removed for cleaning underneath if needed.

When would I need to use one?

When you are installing a wooden floor it is essential that you leave an expansion gap around the edge of the room.  This needs to be around the whole perimeter of the room, including doorways, fireplaces and even any pipes. It allows the wooden floor some room to move into as it expands in warmer and more humid environments.  These gaps do not look very pleasant so you will want to cover them with wooden flooring accessories.  Just like you would cover the edge of the room with skirting or beading, you would use a pipe cover to cover the gaps around any pipework.
