There are numerous products available to help you to clean your hardwood floor.  Choosing the correct one is vital to keeping your floor looking its best.  Once your new hardwood floor has been installed, you will want to make every effort to keep it fresh and clean.

Firstly, you should sweep your floor on a regular basis.  We advise that you do this everyday if the floor is in a busy area.  Once your floor is dust and dirt free, you will want a cleaning product to help remove any sticky marks or scuffs.  Using the correct product does really help to keep your wooden floor looking fresh and new.

Our product recommendations for cleaning your hardwood floor

Here are our top 3 cleaning products for hardwood floors:

Bona Wood Floor Cleaning Spray Mop The mop enables you to clean your hardwood floor in one sweep.  It is the perfect cleaning kit.  The pH neutral, refillable, cleaning solution is built into the mop handle, and is gentle yet effective. The mop has a microfibre pad which is removable and machine washable.  Finally, the mop has a rotating head to easily reach into corners and tricky areas. If your wooden floor has an oiled finish, you may be interested in the Bona Cleaning Kit for Oiled Floors.

Osmo Wash and Care This cleaning solution is suitable for both oiled and lacquered wooden floors.  It contains all natural ingredients and offers a highly effective cleaning product.  Osmo wash and care is simple to use by mixing with water and applying with a microfibre mop.

Bona Wood Floor Refresher This is the ideal cleaning product for refreshing a dull looking wooden floor.  It revives scratches and adds protection to the surface of the wood.  It should not be used every time you clean your floor but is great every now and again to bring back the sheen and lustre to your wooden floor.

Is there anything I should avoid?

You should always check the details of any cleaning products.  They ideally should be water based or pH neutral, and suitable for cleaning hardwood floors.  You should never use a steam mop as this can damage the wood.  Also, avoid any acidic or abrasive cleaning products, and do not use furniture polish.
