If you are decorating your home and thinking to replace your old carpet with something a bit different, why not consider a wooden floor.  Hardwood flooring is a great alternative to a carpet and can add character and sophistication to any home.

Reasons why you should replace your carpet with a wooden floor:

Wooden floors are a great alternative to carpets. They can sometimes be more expensive than a carpet, but they will last a lot long, therefore better value for money.  Carpets can easily get worn out, especially in busy areas.  Hardwood floors are more hard wearing and can even be sanded and refreshed if they start to look dull.

A hardwood floor is much more versatile than a carpet.  Generally, a wooden floor will go with most colour schemes and decors, meaning that you can re-decorate around you floor without having to change it.  Whereas a carpet tends to be used as part of the décor so can easily go out of fashion or not suit the room if you redecorate.

You can use a wooden floor in almost any room in your home.  They are perfect for bedrooms, hallways, living areas and dining rooms.  If you choose engineered hardwood flooring, you can even use them in a conservatory and with underfloor heating systems. You can always add a rug to your hardwood floor.  This will add a pop of colour and give you a bit of comfort, especially in the colder months.

Wooden floors are easier to clean than carpets. They can easily be swept and cleaned to remove pet hair, dust and dirt.  As a result, they are much more hygienic. Carpets can be quite hard to clean thoroughly, even with a high-powered vacuum cleaner.  Dirt and allergens can still get lost in the pile of a carpet, even when they look clean.

Reasons not to use a wooden floor instead of a carpet

Wooden floors can be quite cold to walk on, unless you have underfloor heating.  They can also be hard underfoot, so if you are looking for a comfortable and soft floor, then you may want to stick with a carpet. If you are still not sure, have a look at the blog post: Wooden Flooring Vs Carpets.
