What is a felt pad?
Felt pads or felt protector pads have been designed to reduce the amount of scratches and dents which your wooden floor may get. They are small round or square pads, made of felt, which can be fixed to objects (usually furniture). Some have a self-adhesive sticky pad and others have a more secure screw fitting mechanism. The felt itself has anti-scratch properties, and the soft padding acts as a cushion between the furniture and your hardwood floor.
The general purpose of using the felt pads is to prevent unwanted scratches and dents that can be caused when you move furniture around. By dragging, dropping or moving heavy objects across your wooden floor, you are likely to leave small scratches or indentations on the surface, which can look unsightly. Using felt protector pads immediately reduces this risk significantly. We would highly recommend using felt pads on the bottom of furniture (chair and table legs) and any other objects that are frequently moved over your floor.
What are the reasons to use them with my wooden floor?
- The felt pads create a cushioned barrier between sharp objects and your wooden floor.
- They will significantly reduce the number of unwanted scratches, dents and marks on the surface of your hardwood.
- The main reason to use them is to protect your wooden floor from your furniture. This will, in turn, increase the longevity of your wooden floor.
