Laminate floors are fairly resilient, however, you should still be mindful of how to prevent scratches on the surface.  Small scratches can easily happen without you sometimes realising how.  Scuffs and scratches are inevitable but can be prevented by taking a number of small steps.

Steps to take to prevent scratches

Taking simple steps and by following this care guide can really help. The most important thing that you can do is to implement a regular cleaning schedule. You should be aiming to sweep your floor every day using a soft brush.  This may sound like a lot, but it will remove any dust, dirt or crumbs that are laying on the surface.

Following this, you should aim to clean you floor at least once a week.  Use a gentle floor cleaner that is suitable for laminate flooring.  We would recommend using a Bona Laminate Flooring Spray Mop.

Next, you should aim to prevent scratches on your laminate floor protecting it from moving furniture. This is a simple task.  You can apply felt protector pads to the bottom of any furniture that regularly moves, for example, dining chairs or stools.  These pads will provide a cushioned layer between the chair leg and your laminate floor.  For other, more heavy items of furniture that are less regularly moved, just be very careful to lift the furniture, then place it down gently.

Never drag anything across the floor. Finally, we strongly recommend that you remove outdoor footwear and also place a doormat at all entrance doors.  This will reduce the risk of grit, dirt and water from outdoors, reaching your floor. It also saves you from unnecessary extra cleaning!

• Apply felt protector pads to the bottom of all of your furniture
