Bona Prime Classic
How much will I need?
Product Advantages
- Bona Prime Classic is a single-component waterborne primer
- Compatible with all Bona’s waterborne topcoats
- Non-yellowing formula
- NMP and NEP free
- VOC 2010 compliant
Technical Specification
- Coverage rate: 8-10 m² /litre (100-120g/m² ) per coat
- Drying time, until: - 1-2 hours at 20°C/60% R.H.
Preparation
Ensure the floor is acclimatized to its end-use environment. The surface which is to be coated must be sanded back to bare wood, dry and free from sanding dust, oil, wax and other contamination. A sanding disc or screen grit 120 should be used for the final sanding of the wood.
Allow the primer to reach room temperature, insert the filter and shake the container thoroughly before use.
Optimal application conditions are between 18-25°C and 40-60% relative air humidity.
High temperatures and low humidity shorten, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. The minimum temperature for use is 13°C.
Application
1. Using a roller, apply the primer evenly avoiding accumulation of product. Care should be taken to achieve a uniform level of timber saturation to avoid colour variation. Always maintain a ‘wet edge’ to avoid overlaps.
2. Allow to dry and apply 2-3 layers of a Bona Waterborne Topcoat depending on wear resistance requirements.
Note: Due to its elasticity Bona Prime Classic is not suitable to abrade. Apply one layer of topcoat before abrading to reduce grain raise.
Cleaning
Cleaning: Wipe tools free from excess lacquer before cleaning with water. Dried material can be removed with acetone
Maintenance / Aftercare
Bona Prime Classic should never be used as the final treatment for timber floors
Storage / Shelf life
Shelf life: 1 year from date of production in unopened original container
The temperature must not fall below +5°C or exceed +25°C during storage
Certifications:
EN 13501-1; 2007 Reaction to fire
