Overview
Bona Freshen Up is a ready-to-use water-based maintenance coating for most varnished wooden floors in both commercial and domestic environments. It helps to revive scratched or dull surfaces giving a newly finished look and extra protection against wear. Perfect for maintaining the range of Bona Floor Varnishes.
Please Note: Bona Freshen Up is not suitable for wooden floors previously waxed, oiled or treated with Bona Polish. Bona Freshen Up will raise the sheen of the surface by a few percent and is therefore not recommended for use on extra matt or 'natural' finishes if you wish to retain a totally matt surface.
Preparation
Ensure floors to be treated are clean, dry and free of any loose dirt, grit or other surface contaminants by vacuuming or sweeping with a dry microfibre mop. Stubborn scuffs, stains or marks should be cleaned with a dedicated, pH balanced, wood floor cleaner such as Bona Cleaner Concentrate.
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to asses product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times. Ensure that the product is well mixed prior to opening by gently rocking the container back and forth several times.
Bona recommend that you DO NOT use a roller to apply Bona Freshen Up as this can create bubbles in the coating which will adversely affect the finish.
- Pour Bona Freshen Up in a 3-4 cm wide wavy line on a small section of your floor
- Use a Bona Mop with a slightly dampened Bona Microfiber Applicator Pad to smooth out product
- Work with the grain of the wood on a small section at a time
- Spread as a thin, consistent coating, keeping airborne dust to a minimum while floor is wet
- Continue until the entire floor is coated
- If needed, a second coat may be applied after the first has fully dried (normally 2 - 3 hours)
- Always coat the entire floor to ensure an even appearance and sheen
Aftercare
Regular cleaning
Wet cleaning of the floor may be resumed after three days. For regular cleaning, use Bona Cleaner Concentrate.
Please Note: Avoid using strong alkaline cleaning agents or household detergents / cleaners as these can degrade or remove the protective polish coating.
Maintenance
For top-up protection and durability, an additional coat of Bona Freshen Up can be applied on a semi-regular basis if required, i.e. every 6 to 12 months.
