Yes, you can install hardwood flooring in your kitchen but you must use engineered hardwood.  This is because engineered hardwood flooring is constructed in such a way that it is able to withstand changes in temperature, humidity and moisture that are inevitable in a kitchen environment.

Hardwood in kitchen

Engineered hardwood flooring is one of the most popular types of flooring and is a great alternative to solid wood flooring as it has more strength and stability, and it is usually lower in cost.  The beauty of engineered wood flooring is that, once installed it looks just like a solid wood floor, as the top layer is actually a layer of wood so it still has the appeal and character of a wooden floor.
